Hello everyone! What an amazingly beautiful June we had, such incredible weather! Here at NSMA we’re now fully into the swing of summer lessons, which continue through to Saturday August 17th. The month of July brings Fall Registration – please be on the lookout for handouts given in lessons and an email to all continuing 2012/13 students.
Fall Registration: Fall 2013 Registration begins July 1st and will end July 31st. All 2012-2013 current and continuing students (except for those who started this summer) will be given priority registration for fall lessons. Due to my reduced teaching schedule for this fall, I cannot guarantee continuing students a space in my fall lessons roster. Please get your registration requests in to me as soon as possible to help facilitate the scheduling process. Students who started this summer will be given fall registration opportunities in the beginning of August if there is space available.
Summer Cancelation Policy Reminder: Students who are going to miss lessons for family trips/vacations must give written or emailed cancellation notice by the 20th of each month for the next month's lessons (ex: student will be gone June 18, so the cancellation notice is required by May 20th). Failure to give notice by the 20th will result in forfeiture of the lesson(s) and the lesson(s) will not be made up or reimbursed (this does not include those lessons canceled due to serious injury or illness). Those who give cancellation notice by the 20th of each month will either have their lesson made up, if possible, or will not be charged for any canceled lessons on that month's invoice.
Reminders: Please do not come up to the house if it is not during business hours. Business hours for the summer are Saturdays 12:00-7:00pm and Mondays 12:00-7:00pm. NSMA is closed all other days. If you need to drop off a check, there is a white, secure drop box attached to the mailbox post. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as this is not only my place of business, it is also my home.

Hello everyone! We are now finishing up our spring semester and we are gearing up for our annual Spring Recitals! I am very excited for our spring recitals this year, all of the students have been working very hard on their songs for the past few months. Here are a few updates for NSMA:
Spring Recitals: The 2013 Spring Recitals will be held Sunday May 19th 3:00pm and 5:30pm. All students should now be signed up for a recital time, if you have not yet signed up for a recital time please contact me asap!! The recitals will be held at UAS in the Egan Lecture Hall with a reception following.
Summer Lessons: Registration for 2013 Summer Lessons is now open! Current students, please fill out your Summer/Fall lesson paperwork and hand in/email me as soon as possible! Summer lessons will be held June 1 – August 19 (please note: there will be no lessons held May 19-31).

Hello everyone!
Welcome to spring with NSMA! We have been so busy that the past two months have flown by and I have been remiss in my monthly news updates to you all. Below are some important reminders for everyone regarding lessons.
Vocal Workshop: I am excited to start our annual vocal workshops series by having Karen Allen, local theater director, actor and book editor, join us for a workshop on “Singing and Acting.” It will be held 3/9 from 4:30-8:30pm at Juneau Brass & Wind and costs $20.00 to participate (includes dinner). All students who are interested should be signed up.
Juneau School District Spring Break: The JSD Spring Break is 3/16-3/25. NSMA is doing optional lessons during that time, everyone should be all squared away by now. If you have any last minute changes to make to your Spring Break plans, please contact me asap.
Spring Recital: We have begun preparing for our annual Spring Recital, which will be Sunday May 19 3:00 and 5:30pm. I will be sending home handouts and taking recital time requests 4-6 weeks before the recital. Please make sure to mark your calendars and plan on you and your student being able to attend!
Summer 2013 and Fall 2013 Lessons: In the beginning of April I will be sending out Summer/Fall registration information. Please start thinking about your summer plans now to see if lessons will fit into your schedule. Summer registration will be due by May 19. I will be sending out Fall registration July 1st to those who express interest in continuing in the fall and it will be due by July 31st. Please contact me if you have any questions about how this works for continuing students.
Piano Tuning: Dan and Vada McElrath of Alaska Piano Services (in Anchorage) will be in Juneau to tune, fix and appraise pianos April 8-17. Pianos should be tuned at least once a year, so please make sure your piano is tuned! You can contact them at (907)Â 529-4584 to make an appointment. If you do, please make sure you tell them you are one of my clients so they will do their best to get you on their schedules.

Hello everyone! We are seriously into winter now with the amount of snow that we’ve had lately! As we’re heading into the last two weeks of lessons before Winter Break, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Winter Holiday Recitals:Â We will be having our annual Winter Holiday Recitals Sunday Dec. 16 at 3:00 and 5:30pm. Everyone should be signed up for a recital time now, the recitals will be held at our regular venue, the Egan Lecture Hall at UAS. Please contact me asap if you have any questions about the recitals!
Winter Break: Winter Break will be Thursday Dec. 20 – Sunday Jan. 6. Lessons will resume as usual Monday Jan. 7.
Tuition Reminder: Tuition is due the first lesson of every month, with a grace period until the 10th of each month. If tuition is not received by the 10th of the month, a $10.00 late fee will be applied. For your convenience, tuition can be sent in the mail, sent with students to their lessons, or put in the white drop box attached to the mailbox post.
