October News

Hello everyone! We’re now fully in the swing of fall lessons, and this month marks our first recital of the 2014/15 school year! That’s right, our Halloween Recitals are coming up in a few weeks. All of my students have been working very hard for the past month and a half to get our songs ready, so I’m excited for the recitals to hurry up and get here so we can see everyone’s wonderful performances! Here are some reminders for this month:

Halloween Recitals: Sunday 10/26 at 2:00pm and 4:30pm at the Egan Lecture Hall at UAS. All students participating should now be signed up for a recital time. Please contact me ASAP if you have not signed up yet or if you have any questions about the times. Remember – ALL students performing must be dressed in costume to match their songs (always one of the most fun parts about the Halloween Recitals)!

Lessons Reminder: NO LESSONS Sunday 10/26 as it is recital day. All other lessons besides that Sunday are as normal.

Looking Ahead to November: We will have NO LESSONS Wed. 11/26 – Sun. 11/30 for Thanksgiving. Please make sure this is marked on your calendars!!

Music on the Fly Performance: I have signed NSMA up for a Music on the Fly performance at the airport on Sunday 12/7. As only a limited number of students can perform, it is on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to perform, please make sure you get your name on the list ASAP!

Noteworthy Accomplishments: NSMA students Ashlee Carella, Chris Talley, Jared Vance, Lydia Smith, & Malcolm Lumba all made Southeast Honor Choir, an audition-only high school choir made up of students from around Southeast Alaska. So proud of you all!!

New Students: If you are a potential new student and are interested in lessons, my schedule for the fall is currently full and I have a wait list started. Please contact me at megan.e.felts@gmail.com for more information on NSMA and how to sign up on the wait list for lessons.
