March News

Hello everyone! We’re nearing the half-way point in our 2024 Spring Semester. This is a busy month for us here at NSMA, please read through these updates and reminders carefully and double check your calendars to make sure everything is written down correctly!

YES to Lessons: We DO have lessons on almost every 1-day holiday and all school inservice and parent/teacher conference days! We DO have lessons on St. Patrick’s Day 3/17, Easter Sunday/Monday 3/31 and 4/1, Mother’s Day 5/12. Please contact me asap if you/your student will not be attending lessons that day, the normal cancelation policy will still apply.

Students’ Choice Recital: Our next recital will be our annual Students’ Choice Recital on Saturday March 9th 3:00-5:00pm at Chapel by the Lake Church. All students are encouraged to participate and/or come and watch as an audience member!!

Spring Break: The Juneau School District Spring Break this year is Monday March 18 – Friday March 22. We will have optional lessons during Spring Break for those students who are in town and wish to have lessons on Sunday March 17 – Sunday March 24. Lessons will resume as normal Monday March 25. 

Spring Recital: The final recital of the 2023/24 school year will be our annual Spring Recital on Saturday May 18th 3:00-5:00pm at Chapel by the Lake Church. I will be sending out an email in April with more details regarding the recital, all students are encouraged to participate and/or come and watch as an audience member!!

MASKS: Masks are now optional! As long as the student is healthy and free of symptoms, masks are optional. We ask that students who are sick with more than minor symptoms stay home (fever, bad cough, throwing up, etc.), students with minor symptoms of a cough or runny nose can attend lessons, but we do ask that they wear a mask while symptomatic.

Tuition Payment Reminder: Tuition payments are due at the first lesson of every month with a grace period until the 10th of the month. If tuition is received after the 10th of the month, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed. Please drop off physical payments with your student at lesson, send in the mail or you can drop it off any time in the secure white drop box attached to the studio entrance. Please do not come up to the studio to drop off payment if it is not your student’s lesson time, and please do not come up to the main house for any reason. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Perseverance Theater will be performing “Indecent” February 16 – March 3. Tickets and more information is available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

The Juneau Symphony will be holding their annual Youth Solo Competition on March 4. More information is available on their website, www.juneausymphony.org.

Juneau Ghost Light Theater will be performing the musical “Batboy” at TMHS March 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 & 17. Tickets and more information are available on their Facebook page.

Hello everyone! Well we certainly got hit with the snow this month, it’s nice to see everyone back after a long Winter Break plus almost an entire week off from lessons for snowmageddon part two! Below is some important information for this month as well as looking ahead this spring.

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I am looking forward to seeing everyone back for lessons this month! Below are some VERY important reminders for this month as well as looking forward to this semester.

Winter Break: We DO NOT have lessons January 1-15. Lessons will resume on TUESDAY JANUARY 16th. We will have the same schedule we had last fall.

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays!! We are in the final stretch of our 2023 Fall Semester here at NSMA, and as December is always a VERY busy month, please make sure you are aware of these important dates!!

Winter Holiday Recital: Our next recital will be our annual Winter Holiday Recital on Saturday December 16 3:00-5:00pm at the UAS Egan Library. All students participating need to be there by 2:45pm – please remember to dress in red/green/holiday outfits (accessories encouraged!!!). All students are encouraged to participate and/or come and watch as an audience member!!

Theater at Latitude 58 and Floyd Dryden Middle school will be performing Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical “Cinderella” November 17-19 at Thunder Mountain High School. I am proud to be vocal directing this production as well as playing piano in the pit orchestra, and we have a number of students performing in it as well!
