October News

Hello everyone! We are still officially on break here at NSMA for the entire month of October. Lessons will resume with our same fall schedule on November 4th. I will be checking in with everyone soon, if I have not yet already, to see how everyone is progressing with their assignments and Winter Holiday Recital songs. If you have any questions regarding lessons, scheduling, practicing, or the recital, please don’t hesitate to email me at any time. I will be doing my best to respond to emails within 24-48 hours during this time. Below are a few reminders:

Return to Lessons: We will return to lessons on Saturday November 4th with the same schedule we started in August. If you are going to be traveling at all in November/December, please let me know ASAP and I will get that marked on my schedule. The normal cancelation policy will still apply (please see Studio Policies for details). Please have these dates marked on your calendars!!

November Invoices: November invoices will be sent out on October 20th. Tuition is due the first lesson of every month with a grace period until the 10th of the month, there is a $25.00 late fee for tuition received after the 10th of the month. Please send a check with students to lessons, send a check in the mail, or you can use the secure white drop box attached to the mailbox post to drop off payments at any time.

Thanksgiving Week: We WILL be having lessons the week of Thanksgiving, including the weekends prior to and after Thanksgiving Thursday. Again, if you plan on missing a lesson during that time, please let me know and the normal cancelation policy will still apply. Please have these dates marked on your calendars!!

Winter Holiday Recital: We will be having the first recital of our 2017/18 school year with our Winter Holiday Recital on Sunday Dec. 17 at 3:00pm at Aldersgate Church. All students should have received recital song(s) to practice over my maternity leave, please contact me asap if you have any questions about the recital song selection. Recital registration papers will be handed out in lessons the first week of November. Please have these dates marked on your calendars!!

Winter Break: We will have NO LESSONS Thursday Dec. 21 – Sunday Jan. 7. Lessons will resume with the same schedule as in the fall on Monday Jan. 8. Please have these dates marked on your calendars!!

New Students for the Fall Semester: I am currently fully booked for when I return to lessons in November. I do have a wait list started for the remainder of the fall semester, so if you are interested in lessons please contact me for more information on how to be put on the wait list for when I have openings in my schedule.

Music Around Town:

Perseverance Theatre will be performing ‘The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity’ Sept. 15 – Oct. 7. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be teaming up with JDHS for a production of Sondheim’s ‘Into The Woods,’ performances in February. Auditions will be open to the community and held on Oct. 5, 6 &7 with call-backs on Oct. 8. Please see their website, www.juneauopera.org, for more information.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be performing ‘Operatoberfest’ Oct. 14. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

The Juneau Symphony will be performing ‘Opening Night’ Oct. 21 & 22. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneausymphony.org.

Perseverance Theatre will be performing ‘Dreaming Glacier Bay’ Oct. 27 – Nov. 18. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.
