February News

Hello everyone! It has been great to see everyone back from Winter Break, and to meet some new students as well. We’ve gotten back in the swing of lessons and practicing here at NSMA, and next month we’ll have our first recital of 2017. Below is some important information for this month as well as looking ahead to next month.

March Recital: Our students’ choice recital this year is going to be Soundtrack Themes. The recital will be held Sunday March 12th at 3:00pm at Aldersgate Church. All students wishing to participate need to contact me by Feb. 20 to register for the recital, there is a $10.00 per student performance fee. Please contact me with any questions!

Spring Break: We will be having optional lessons the week of the school district Spring Break, March 18-26. Please see the letter given to students in lessons regarding more information on Spring Break options, which has also been emailed to all clients. The letter is also available for download on my website under the Current Students/Documents tabs.

Yes to Lessons: We DO have lessons on all one-day holidays. This includes YES lessons on: Tuesday 2/14 Valentine’s Day, Monday 2/20 Presidents’ Day, Sunday 4/16 Easter, Sunday 5/14 Mother’s Day, and all other one-day holidays. If you are unsure about the calendar and holidays, please see my online calendar under the Current Students tab.

Spring Business Hours: Sat/Sun 12:00-7:00, Mon 1:00-7:00, Tue/Wed 2:00-7:00, closed Thur/Fri. Hours are posted on the front door, please do not come up to the house if it is not during the posted business hours.

Tuition Payment Reminder: Tuition Payments are due the first lesson of every month with a grace period until the 10th of the month (15th of the month for January due to late start). If tuition is received after the 10th of the month, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed. Please drop off your payment with your student at lesson, send the payment in the mail or you can drop it off anytime in the secure white drop box attached to the mailbox. Please do not come up to the house to drop off payment if it is not during your student’s lesson time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New Students: If you are a potential new student and are interested in lessons, I am currently fully booked for the Spring Semester. I do have a wait list started, please contact me at megan.e.felts@gmail.com for more information on NSMA and how to sign up for for the wait list.

Music Around Town:

Perseverance Theater will be performing ‘They Don’t Talk Back’ 1/27 – 2/19. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

Juneau Douglas High School will be performing the musical ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’ 2/3 & 4. Tickets are available at the door, from a student or on their website, www.jdhsdrama.com. Many NSMA current and former students will be featured as performers in this show!

The Juneau Symphony will be performing ‘American Roots’ 2/11 & 2/12. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneausymphony.org.

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council has a running list of community activities available online at www.jahc.org.
