December News

Hello everyone! Winter is here and I’m sure we’re all bustling about getting ready for the holidays. We have a short, jam-packed month here at NSMA. Below are the highlights for December.

Winter Holiday Recital: Our fifth annual Winter Holiday Recital will be held on Sunday Dec. 18th at 3:00pm at Aldersgate Church. All students participating should be registered, all are welcome to come and watch as audience members! There will be no lessons held on that recital day. Please contact me asap with any questions you might have.

Winter Break: There will be NO LESSONS Thursday 12/22 – Sunday 1/8. Lessons resume at our normal schedule on Monday 1/9.

Scheduling: If you/your student is interested in a different day/time for lessons, Winter Break is the time to contact me regarding requesting scheduling changes for the spring semester!

Fall Business Hours: Sat/Sun 12:00-7:00, Mon/Tue 1:00-7:00, Wed 2:30-7:00, closed Thur/Fri. Hours are posted on the front door, please do not come up to the house if it is not during the posted business hours.

Tuition Payment Reminder: Tuition Payments are due the first lesson of every month with a grace period until the 10th of the month. If tuition is received after the 10th of the month, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed. Please drop off your payment with your student at lesson, send the payment in the mail or you can drop it off anytime in the secure white drop box attached to the mailbox. Please do not come up to the house to drop off payment if it is not during your student’s lesson time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New Students: If you are a potential new student and are interested in lessons, I am currently fully booked. I do have a wait list started, please contact me at megan.e.felts@gmail.com for more information on NSMA and how to sign up for lessons or for the wait list.

Music Around Town:

Perseverance Theater will be performing the play ‘Hold These Truths’ through Dec. 4th. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

Juneau Dance Theater will be performing their annual holiday show ‘The Nutcracker’ Dec. 2-4. Several NSMA students and alumni will be performing, including Anna McDowell and Brianna Overturf. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneaudance.org.

Perseverance Theater will be performing ‘This Wonderful Life’ Dec. 9-31. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

Juneau Lyric Opera will be holding their annual Mid-Winter Vocal Festival Dec. 30 – Jan. 8, with a culminating performance Jan. 8. Many NSMA students, alumni, and yours truly will be participating in this event. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

Juneau Jazz & Classics will be holding their annual ‘Swinging in the New Year’ party Dec. 31. Tickets and more information on their website, www.jazzandclassics.org.
