December News

Hello everyone! I can’t believe how fast this fall semester has flown by and now we only have three weeks until Winter Break! We have quite a few things happening this month, so please make sure you are up to date with everything, and as always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have!

Winter Holiday Recitals: Our Winter Holiday Recitals will be held Sunday 12/14 at 2:00pm and 4:30pm at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in the Valley. All students who are performing should now be signed up for the recitals, please contact me if you have any questions. Remember – all students performing need to bring a canned good to donate to the church’s local food pantry!

Recital DVDs: I will be making recital DVDs for those who wish to purchase them at $5.25 each (incl. tax). Please let me know ASAP if you know you would like a DVD of your student’s recital so I can put that on your December invoice. Recital DVDs will be available for pickup 12/15-17, either at your student’s lesson time or at a pre-arranged pick-up time.

Winter Break: We will have NO LESSONS 12/18 – 1/4 for Winter Break. Lessons will resume as normal on Monday 1/5.

Reminder: We DO have lessons the week after the recital, so for Mon/Tue/Wed students you WILL have one last lesson after the recital before Winter Break.

Another Reminder: We DO NOT have lessons Sunday 12/14 as that is the recital date.

Scheduling: I will be making some changes to my lessons schedule for lessons starting in January. If you would like to request a different lesson/day time, please contact me now! I will not be changing anyone’s current times unless I hear from you, so no action is required if you want to keep your current lesson time.

New Students: If you are a potential new student and are interested in lessons, my schedule for the spring is currently full and I have a wait list started. Please contact me at megan.e.felts@gmail.com for more information on NSMA and how to sign up on the wait list for lessons.

Music Around Town:

Perseverance Theatre will be performing the musical Chicago 11/7 – 12/7. More information and tickets are available on their website, www.perseverancetheatre.org. You can also purchase tickets at the JAHC (online or in person) and at Hearthside Books.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be performing their annual Holiday Pops concerts 12/13 at Chapel By the Lake and 12/14 at the JACC. Tickets and more information are available at www.juneauopera.org.

The Juneau Jazz & Classics will be hosting their annual Swing in the New Year on New Year’s Eve at the JACC with the Thunder Mountain Big Band. Tickets and more information are available at www.jazzandclassics.org.
