April News

Hello everyone! Welcome to spring, I think we’re finally seeing a little bit of it here in Juneau! It’s going to be a busy spring for NSMA, we’ve got a vocal workshop in April and we’re getting ready for our Spring Recital in May.

April Vocal Workshop: NSMA will be holding another vocal workshop, “Singing and Movement,” Sunday, April 15th 12:00-3:00pm. There is a $15.00 fee for attending the workshop, and students should be registered no later than Friday, April 6th. Please contact me asap if you would like to register for the workshop!

Spring Recitals: NSMA will be holding our annual Spring Recitals Sunday, May 20th. I will be sending out information about the recitals later this month, students wishing to perform will need to sign up for one of our two recitals (exact times TBA), so please be on the lookout for that letter.

Summer Lessons: I will be teaching lessons during the summer and in April I will be sending out a letter to begin scheduling summer lessons. Please remember that if you decide to take the summer off from lessons, your student will not lose their space in my studio for the next school year. Also, if your student will be taking summer lessons, I will have a completely different schedule, and lesson days/times will be offered on a first come basis.

Music Around Town:

The Juneau Cabaret will be performing Sunday, April 1st at 7:00pm at the JACC. Yours truly will be performing and accompanying several singers, including NSMA students Rebekah Badilla, Kris Clark, and Jordan Harris. Musical selections will include musical theatre, jazz, and some pop tunes, we will have a no-host bar for those over 21 and munchies, cost is pay as you can.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be performing Handel’s Messiah April 27-29 at Thunder Mountain High School. More information and tickets are available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council has a running list of community activities available online at www.jahc.org.

That's all for now! Thank you all for continuing to make music an important part of your life!!
