May News

Hello everyone! May is such a busy month with our two Spring Recitals and the 2010/2011 school year coming to an end this month. Spring lessons end May 22nd. At this point everyone should be signed up for a recital date – if you need to change anything about your recital rehearsal and/or recital date/time, please let me know ASAP!!

Recitals: Recital Rehearsal Sat. May 7th – please double check your students assigned time! Sat. May 14th Recital – 5:00-7:30pm. Sun. May 22nd Recital – 2:00-4:30pm. The Recital Rehearsal and both Recitals will be held at UAS in the Egan Lecture Hall, room 109. Again, if you have any questions, please let me know ASAP!!

Registration for Summer Lessons: Current NSMA students who want to continue lessons through this summer need to let me know by Friday, May 6th if you want a guaranteed spot. New students who are interested in lessons but have not contacted me yet to register please do so soon – I have a limited number of time slots left for the summer and they are being filled quickly!!

Summer Lessons: Summer lessons begin Tuesday, May 31st. Lessons will only be offered Monday – Thursday during the summer. Please see the Summer Studio Policies document for more information on summer lessons under both New Students (Studio Policies) and Current Students (Documents).

Music Around Town:

The Juneau Lyric Opera is holding auditions for it’s fall 2012 production of Hairspray! This is going to be a very fun show, so if you are interested in auditioning please visit their website, www.juneauopera.org, for more information.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be having it’s Broadway Splash workshop in June, those interested in performing in it should watch their website for registration information. Space is very limited, so if you want a spot you will need to act quickly!

The Perserverance Theatre’s latest show [title of show], a musical comedy, will be ending May 8th. Please note: due to mature content and language, this show is not suitable for young children.

JDHS will be performing You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown May 5, 6 &7. Tickets are available at the JACC, Hearthside Books, and at the door.

Juneau Jazz & Classics is having their 25th annual music festival this year! Dates are May 6-21. More information is available on their website, www.jazzandclassics.org.
