February News

Hello everyone! We’re fully up and running for our 2018 Spring Semester here at NSMA, it’s nice to be back in the swing of things after the whirlwind that always accompanies the holidays! We’ve got a jam-packed spring, here are some updates and reminders!

March Recital: We have our next recital on Sunday March 11th at 3:00pm at Aldersgate Church. Recital registration paperwork will be handed out the first week of February, all students wishing to perform in the recital must be registered by Feb. 20th. There is a $10.00 per student performance fee, which will be added to your March invoice. Please let me know if you have any questions!

YES to Lessons: We DO have lessons on all one day holidays! That includes Valentine's Day Wednesday 2/14, President's Day Monday 2/19, Easter Sunday 4/1 and Mother's Day Sunday 5/13. Please let me know if you/your student will not be attending lessons that day, the regular cancelation policy will still apply.

Spring Break: Spring Break is Saturday March 17 – Sunday March 25. There will be optional lessons held Saturday March 17 – Monday March 19 for those students wishing to have lessons. There will be no lessons Tuesday March 20 – Sunday March 25. Lessons will resume as normal on Monday March 26. I will be handing out Spring Break information during the first week of February (it will also be emailed as well), please read through that and let me know your plans by February 20th.

May Recital: Our final recital of the 2017/18 school year is our annual Spring Recital on Sunday 5/20 at 3:00pm at Aldersgate Church. Recital registration information will be handed out the first week of April.

Tuition Payment Reminder: Tuition Payments are due the first lesson of every month with a grace period until the 10th of the month. If tuition is received after the 10th of the month, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed. Please drop off your payment downstairs in the studio with your student at lesson, send the payment in the mail or you can drop it off anytime in the secure white drop box attached to the mailbox. Please do not come up to the house to drop off payment if it is not during your student's lesson time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Business Hours: Sat 12:00-7:00pm, Sun/Mon 12:00-7:30pm, Tue 12:30-7:00pm, Wed 1:30-7:00m, closed Thur/Fri. Please do not come up to the door if it is not your student's lesson time or regular business hours, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New Students for the Spring 2018 Semester: I have only a couple of openings for new students for the 2018 Spring Semester, please contact me at megan.e.felts@gmail.com for more information on registering for lessons! I also have a short wait list started for those interested in lessons but are unable to make the times I have available. Please contact me for more information.

Music Around Town:

Perseverance Theater will be performing “William, Inc.” 1/26 – 2/17. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.ptalaska.org.

The Juneau Lyric Opera is partnering with Juneau Douglas High School for the musical “Into The Woods.” Performances 2/9 & 10, 2/16 & 17. Many current and former NSMA students will be performing in this show! Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

The Juneau Lyric Opera will be sponsoring local tenor Jay Query and Sue Kazama in a recital on 2/25. Tickets and more information are available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

Vada Dunford of Attune Piano Services will be coming to tune pianos 2/23 – 3/2. To sign up for a piano tuning, please contact her at attunepiano@gmail.com or (360) 202-8040.

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council has a running list of community activities available online at www.jahc.org. There are MANY great events this month with the holiday season!!
