July News

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July, it is always one of my favorite holidays here in Juneau and it was even more fun this year, seeing many of my students not only at the parade, but in the parade! Here are some updates from NSMA:

Musical Theater Master Workshop: NSMA will be putting on its first Master Workshop with guest NYC artist Terry Lynn LeCompte! Held July 16-29, 20 students will have the opportunity to work with Terry Lynn and I on musical theater songs and acting with a culminating performance at the end of the workshop. The performance will be on Sunday July 29 at 7:00pm at the Juneau Seventh Day Adventist Church School, 4890 Glacier Hwy (right above the Pioneer Home). Please come out to the performance to support our NSMA performers!

Fall 2012 Registration: Fall lessons start Monday August 20th. Pre-registration for current students has now opened for fall lessons. All current students have the opportunity to register for fall lessons during the month of July. Starting Aug. 1st registration will open to those on the wait list, so if you are a current or previous NSMA student and want to continue lessons this fall, please contact me this month to get registered. You can register online via the online registration form, you can download and print off the Fall Registration Letter and Fall Sign Up Sheet from under the Current Students -> Documents tabs, or you can email me with your registration requests.

If you are a potential new student and are interested in summer lessons, I do still have a few openings in my schedule. For those of you who are interested in fall lessons, I do have a wait list for the fall. Please fill out the online Registration Form or contact me for more information on NSMA and how to get signed up for lessons or signed up for the wait list.

Music Around Town:

The Juneau Lyric Opera is bringing back conductor Dr. Byron McGilvray and accompanist Janis Capelle for this summer’s Broadway Splash Festival Chorus and Master Class July 26-Aug.10. More information is available on their website, www.juneauopera.org.

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council has a running list of community activities available online at www.jahc.org.

That's all for now! Thank you all for continuing to make music an important part of your life!!
